CSS rotateY() Function
The CSS rotateY() function is used within the
transform property, and defines a 3D rotation of
an element around its y-axis at a given degree.
This means that it swivels an element left or right (like a swinging door).
Note: To activate a 3D space, the element needs perspective. Without perspective, any 3D transforms will look flat and two-dimensional.
Example
Use rotateY() to rotate <div> elements around the y-axis (vertical):
.container {
perspective: 500px; /* Creates the 3D space */
}
.box1 {
transform: rotateY(40deg);
}
.box2 {
transform: rotateY(60deg);
}
